Spidy Senses AWAY........

What a great weekend!!! Went to the Home & Garden Show with a few friends of ours. There was sooo much to see it was crazy!

We also went to the Consumer Choice Awards....My lovely Husband's company received an award!!!!! They received best Bike Shop in Calgary!!!! WOOT WOOT WOOT to them..... They rock it!  It was really fun to get dressed up and go out. There were so many gowns, shoes and accessories to look at I almost forgot to pay attention to the awards...(which, by the way, will be televised at a later date)

When you are connected to someone do you ever feel their pain? Or feel that something is going to happen or they are going to get hurt? I have always felt this with a few people in my life. I like to call them Spidy Senses......
Well, they had kicked in mid week last week.....regarding my oldest son...He and I are incredibly close and ALWAYS know exactly how the other is feeling....it is really wierd to be honest... our closeness is definately uncanny!!! Any way.......Spidy Senses away.....

I spoke with my Son and told him to behave and be careful......I knew he was going to have a fun-filled weekend with some of his friends from out of town.....Saturday night, he calls me on my cell.....starting off saying...."Mom, remember that feeling you had....." YUP he was the lucky founder of a brand new speeding ticket!!!!! ohhhh sooooo lucky.......'cuz his insurance is already an ARM and a LEG!!!!!!  wait....that's not it!!!!

Another phone call Sunday Morning...."Mom, you are NOT going to believe this" - oh man, you know you need to sit down when they say that...Let's just say.....McDonald's Restaurant Security take their jobs way, way, way too SERIOUSLY!!!!!! Thank goodness for designated driver rides being on time!!!!! Police being slower than designated driver rides......I am sure spending a night in the drunk tank would not be very becoming!!!! ( no one was hurt, just lots of happy times with a not so happy Security Guard) There were lots of Shinanigans to be had this weekend.... sticking true to the words........BOYS ARE DUMB!!!!!!

I wonder when the shinanigans will stop........

Social Butterfly

As I stated in my previous blog, I am not used to being so social....I am not against it, my life is usually just not that exciting!

This weekend, is going to be fun.....

We are going to the Home and Garden Show with a few friends! It should be full of giggles for sure!!!! (seriously - I have only a few friends, and so far you have met them all - I just make it sound like I have a LOT of friends)

Then on Sunday evening my Hubbie and I are going to a GALA......ooooohhhhh how exciting!!!!  My Husbands work is receiving an award, so his Boss and Wife invited us to go along and bask in the glory! So....I have asked what award they won? Again, Boys are Dumb!!! My darling Hubbie had no clue!!!! How can you NOT know what award you are getting!?!?!?!??! sheesh

I am struggling with what to wear and all of that....Boys have it easy - My Husband owns 1 suit and 1 tie so it's easy for him...I on the other hand own 2 dresses and 1 fancy pair of shoes, so you can see where the stress comes in!!!! Should I buy another dress, wear one of the two I already have (so many to choose from lol) As you can tell by our wardrobes we don't go to formal or semi formal for that matter...very often!!! :)

But really, it will work out if I wave that magic wand.....wait, last time I waved that thing it FLOPPED...stay tuned it should be a good one....

Very Sex In the City

WOW have I been a social butterfly......

This is not usually my style, usually I go to work, come home, do chores, go to work...you know the story.
So the other night I was able to visit with 2 girlfriends, and last night, I was socializing with another friend!!!!!
I could really get used to visiting with all my peeps....lol

It was really fun to visit with this young friend of mine....she is newly married and living in a small town, just starting out. So it is always fun to sit around some warm comfort food and chat about all of life's stuff!!!!  I loved conversing with her! What is with all these intelligent and upstanding young people...I am not sure I am even that mature at my ripe ol' age of just over 40!!!! How do these girls grow so well into themselves?!?!!?!

I am soooo excited, as she announced that she is expecting!!!! WOW sooooo very excited.......It will be fun to watch her grow and change from a young woman to a young Mother. I know in my heart of hearts she will be the best Mom there could be!  Congrats to you my young dear friend.....

20's 30's & 40's

Last night I was lucky enough to visit with 2 of my most favorite peeps! We don't often have the luxury of getting together uninterrupted, just us girls!

The three of us are in our 20's, 30's and 40's! It is amazing that we all get along so well! We have lots in common along with such extremely different lives.

My 20 something year old peep is in University and ROCKIN' it! She scored 100% on one of her finals!!!! WHO DOES THAT!?!?!?!? This young Lady is so incredibly beautiful and smart! Normally I wouldn't pay much attention to a 20 something person, a snob, I know. We worked together and hit it off so well, it was hard to ignore her zest for life, along with how incredibly intelligent she is! We laughed about dorm life and discussed the struggles of being in school with a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds....

My 30 something year old peep is at this moment a Domestic Engineer.  She just had a beautiful baby girl, so she is taking time off to be with her.  My dear friend is also incredibly smart, honest and so much fun to be with!  I love her honesty - one of those people who can tell you, you like crap and not offend you! This awesome person, has gone far and above the call of duty.  Her and her significant other have helped our family more than words can express. We discussed careers and fashion along with the good, the bad and the ugly of nursing!!!!!!

So all in all, we had a fabulous time talking about careers, school, children and of course BOYS!!!! We came to a unanimous decision that yes, BOYS ARE still DUMB!!!!!!!!  I raise my glass to you girls, and wish we could get together more often, then perhaps it wouldn't be as special........

ps: for my 20 something friend - "like, I just went down and got a Starbucks, and like it was sooo busy, I could hardly believe it....like, I just don't get it.....like, I just finished my Starbucks, and it was like, cold when I finished it.  Like did anyone go outside today, like it's sooo frickin' cold out.......like I can't believe it.....bahahahahaha :)

What to do, What to do!?!?!??!?!

This is the Family Day weekend!!!! Woot woot....long weekend equals short work week next week!!!!!

Now, I am a little late in planning something fun filled that 2 teenage boys would like to do......I first thought to go skiing, then realized in a small town not so far away...ALL HOTELS were BOOKED!!!!!!!! Can you believe that!!!!!!! So that cancells that out....now truly I am stumped....

I have been looking for things to do around town. The famous outdoor hockey game is this Sunday - one to go to if one had been organized and bought tickets.....maybe they will televise it and we can watch it while hosting a bunch of rowdy friends!!! That sounds like a plan, as we are truly Canadian and LOVE the game of hockey!

I was also thinking of visiting the Calgary Science Center - the Titanic Exhibition.....That would be very cool! But probably very cool for my husband and I.....somehow I can't imagine a 16 and 18 year old being riveted by the awesomeness. I would hope culturally one day they will appreciate it, but for now I believe friends and having fun is all they are truly interested in!

So for now, I will go against my nature and "wing" it this weekend. I am usually one who thrives on organization and structure, but hey I must live a little on the edge and see what this fabulous long weekend will bring......

Not so Magic Magic Wand!!!

Well the shower went.....After running around and clenaing the house, while cooking and morphing myself int Martha and Sarah, I was ready for the rush of well wishers!

The diaper cake turned out fabulous! It is something that I will do again. I found it easy to do, you can make the cake as affordable or extravagant as you please! I used it as the centre piece to my table where all the food was.
That way everyone would be able to see it and realize what it was!!!! This was a HUGE hit!!!

The biggest dissappointment of all was - my dear friends friends were very rude and decided they had more important things to do that day and not notify.  So to turn lemons into lemonaide, I was most pleased that the younger crowd made an effort as did my other dear close friend....Lemonaide part - we were able to sit all afternoon and coo and cuddle baby Brooke, eat a large amount of snacks, and visit uninterupted for hours on end. This makes it the best day!!!!! As for those who chose to be rude, well.....what goes around comes around and one day they will understand the time and effort it takes. Not to mention how rude it is to not show without any reason!!!!!

Thanks "T" for a great day cuddling and cooing over the most adorable baby girl!!!! Also, for being able to visit with you ALL day.....xx

Jubilations

Jubilations Theatre was a fun evening. Everyone was well behaved and seemed to enjoy themselves! My oldest son and his girlfriend even enjoyed it, along with my youngest son! We saw Tom Jones and the Temple of Doom. As my family are HUGE Indiana Jones fans, this was an appropriate play to go see.

The dinner was medeocre, not the greatest, it was well planned out, as they serve you soup then salad, main course and dessert. All throughout the night, you eat your meal. So ensure you can wait that long or you have a reasonable snack before hand. I thought the best part of the dinner was they served mini jugs of your choice of drink. So many of us had iced tea and pop in a mini jug. It was truly the best idea!!!! My family are big drinkers so this worked fabulously!!!!!

Would I do this again, probably not! It can be a rather expensive evening. Regular price Saturday night tickets are 70.00 per person.....so for 5 of us - 350.00 not including our drinks - non alchoholic or not!  I would reccommend using the Jubilations Dinner vouchers you can purchase at Costco, this will greatly reduce the expense for the evening and make it more affordable and enjoyable.

All in all a nice evening, and a good experience!!!!!
